before & afters -- chairs

*where it all started. the before.
i asked the man at his yard sale in hanover "how much?" while one hand on the chair and another in my pocket keeping a five$ warm....hoping he wouldn't want more....he replied "Merry Christmas" then proceeded to carry to the rover. best x-mas gift i ever got in august.

after done in benny-moore paint with paisley fab.

*second before. i miss the orange but shep wanted it gone!

driving back to the 'rents house in newburyport after breakfast one sunday at www.fowlesmarket.com. yard sales were all around and so was trash on the curb for pick up. this chair was out with trash with a tag $2 from a previous days yard sale. i had gregg stop and thats when the women said "its all yours, keep your dollars!"

after. not proud. going to re-paint. keeping stripe fab.

*third before.

love the paint didn't mess with it much, its a pale yellow with teal green coming thru. $10 sale in an old, used furniture market.

after. seat done with hounds tooth fab.

Starbucks has lost a trademark dispute with a little-known South Korean company which styled its products 'Starpreya'. The patent court ruled against Starbucks, which filed a trademark-infringement lawsuit against local firm Elpreya. Starbucks claimed Elpreya's use of the brand 'Starpreya' causes local consumers to confuse the product with its own corporate and brand name. The Intellectual Property Tribunal ruled that the trade names were too dissimilar to be confused. Both logos are pictured left (with other Asian imitators) - make your own judgment....

If you've got a dollar and you spend twenty-nine cents on a loaf of bread, you've got seventy-one cents left. But if you've got seventeen grand and you spend twenty-nine cents on a loaf of bread, you've still got seventeen grand. There's a math lesson for you.

eye jewels

for 500 to 1,000 euros and in just 15 minutes, you can get a "jewel" implanted in your eyeball; to be exact, in the conjunctiva (the mucous membrane lining the inner surface of the eyelids). it's so popular already that there's a waiting list. it's made out of platinum and available in the shape of a heart, half moon, a star or circle.

.

.

I can't believe this is so called art. I work at an Ophthalmology practice, eyeballs are what we see all day, everyday & I've never come across this. Must be a European thing? I don't get it, why would someone want a jewel stuck to their eye? Please don't mess with your eyes!

The Way I See It # 21

People need to see that, far from being an obstacle, the worlds diversity of languages, religions and traditions is a great treasure, affording us precious opportunities to recognize ourselves in others.

cat bowl

while doing some things around the house i came across Otis curled into our what was mail bowl....i moved the curtain to give him some sun.

...this is him minutes before it crashed to the floor...i knew i shouldn't have left it on the chair, now the bowl is broken....ughh my own fault, oh well at least the moment was captured!

tidy time

Complete one project before you start another.
i need to tell myself this over & over...ADD vs OCD?
well off to spend my day off cleaning before mr gms comes home...oh so 1940's sounding. wish me luck, seriously

c&g

hate to say it....here it goes, so its that time of year already. i did say i was stretching my summer a while back...when everyone was complaining summer was over. well i def dragged the uggs and muck boots out in the past few days alone. sadly the window boxes are caputs, done, gone, finished.Otis aka Tucket, the kitten. His new thing is getting a hold of the toilet paper and running with a lonnng stream through the bathroom he also has been sleeping in the magazine rack in the b.r.

Jake and Gregg watch t.v. together, mostly just Gregg watching t.v. and Jake pawing at him for attention. hey Jake, bet you cant wait for coat season....oooh the torture!
Oscar is still such a grouch. he roars to get out and if he doesn't get his way with begging for treats or being let out he is purposely destructive. Gregg thinks I'm crazy and hes just "a cat" but seriously he knows when hes being bad IE scratching the couch, running up to your legs and applying a death grip, jumps on top of the key board while blogging.... to name a few

I'm back to the gym, thanks to Melissa's email *which i wont talk about haha, actually its more shockingly sad then funny. i need my body back! weekends I've been "speed" walking Gregg calls it with each dog individually, Jake doesn't get my purpose...why would he? he stops & smells everything or drags me to run to something....why i love Henry's co. mostly for those kinds of walks-jogs.

headbands & hats....my fav Gregg and i need to get away again...i love our snowy road trips, we've been brainstorming over our next winter destination...and don't worry we are still planning on a OR trip....and we must see Seattle while on the west coast...can't wait for that either.

well for those of you who got my email hope you enjoy the recipes. I'm baking pumpkin bread tomorrow, yumm!

dazzel

I've been using this as my pallet for all the new changes I'm making around the house. fabric has been so hard to find so I've been getting crafty using curtains & sheets as my fabric and making pillows and covers. I've only had luck at the fabric store for the chair cushions in the kitchen. I mixed a stripe, hounds tooth and paisley pattern on three mc oldie chairs that needed some help. Furniture in the photo also has inspired me, although I've always favored things to be a bit worn for as long as i can remember.

catucket

my name is Otis some say Tucket and this is my house. I have lovely sea shells that fill my window box, they make all kinds of noises against my claws. I hide all my toys inside away from my new brothers.
Mom & Dad just made these chair cushions which i find very comfy to nap in after a big meal.
the dogs call me goldie locks...must be my lovely fur coat and it couldn't be because i've tried out all the beds in the house, this ones jakes and he rarely makes room for me here. so onto the next.
this is the coolest cat house around. Oscar is jealous he can't fit inside...now i know why they call him captain fat boy.
me just relaxing on the stairs working on my tan one paw at a time.
Henrys bed is ok, but its yellow & pink...too girlie for me!
the end at catucket come back soon!

this is the newest addition, his name is...well he's a bit confused or we are i guess. Gregg calls him Otis & I call him Tucket. Hes super sweet, loves to purr & snuggle. Gregg built him a cat house to play in, named Catucket which he loves of course.

beach feet

sorry for beach feet on the t-top special today....and yes my mother taught me no feet or elbows on the table but hey this is my house now ;)
On another note, everyone is all "the summers over!" Why just because its Sept already? Well, I know i'll still be doing the beach drive on all month, my summers not done!
