I'm sucker for a great entry area / mudroom, its my fav and a must have for sure. These are some very inspirational ideas that I heart! My own personal touches:

I most always have an oriental rug
My coat stand (like the green one above)
A bin for umbrella's & yard sticks (why yard sticks? lol I just love them)
Nice chair or bench to sit while you put boots on etc (I used an ottoman once that was cute too) Don't forget a deco pillow for your seating area.
Antique hooks hung on the wall - I'm thinking I want to paint mine a fun color this year
Metal bins for mittens - hats and dog accessories
& the MUST HAVE a small table (I use an antique sewing table) or sofa table with a cute bowl for keys, magazine bin and some tid bits for decoration.

Yesterday Boston's had its first snow of the season... before Halloween! One thing I love about Boston is the season changes but I'm hoping we get to enjoy fall before more winter-like activity. This morning my car read 34degrees burr, getting there was not easy -- it was torture getting out from under my warm covers. On that note here are some dreamy bedrooms that inspired me. Enjoy! I'm excited to report that I have been selected as a Unite For Sight Global Impact Fellow, and I will participate at Crystal Eye Clinic in Ghana, Africa during February 1st-15th 2012. Unite For Sight is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is the world's leader in socially responsible, effective volunteering and also a leader in providing high quality, cost-effective care to the world's poorest people. To date, Unite For Sight has provided eye care services to 1,200,000 patients, including more than 44,000 sight-restoring surgeries. While abroad, I will participate daily with the local ophthalmologists, local optometrists, and local ophthalmic nurses to eliminate patient barriers to care and to facilitate comprehensive year-round eye care for patients living in extreme poverty.

As a Unite For Sight Global Impact Fellow, I am fundraising at least $1800 to provide eye care for patients living in extreme poverty, but I hope to raise much more - My goal is $3000. I would be so grateful for your support. The average cost of a cataract surgery is $50, which means that $50 will enable someone who is blind to have their sight restored, and $250 enables five people to have their sight restored. Any help is appreciated, and no amount will go unnoticed. 100% of your tax-deductible donation to Unite For Sight goes directly to restoring sight for patients living in extreme poverty. daily inspiration: i heart a great staircase in a home & ladders up to any built in bookcase.

A wonderful 1900's, 9bdrm brownstone completely untouched -in terms of being original doors, windows, hardware etc.. Just one big lovely house- has come on the market for a great price. It's 5floors! Front&back stair cases- dreamy, I felt the need to rescue this home -- I walked through yesterday with an ache in my heart and picture in my mind of family home with children laughing and running up and down the stairs playing. If things were in a different place I would buy it in a heart beat and brighten the original charm out of it! This home has only been with one Italian family, who've continuously passed it down until now... there's no one left who wants it. Keys are in the hands of a realtor. I fear & know all to well that someone is going to come in and divide this home into 3-4 separate apartments and modernize the (beep) out of it- all for a dollar. I wish there were more people out there that wanted to leave things as is and keep a homes character! ... Ugg, I guess to be continued -- as I'm keeping my eyes pealed on all happenings there ;)

Here are a few pictures I found & I'm craving this style. Bathroom is clean and simple, love the openness. Book shelves are huge in my house & quite full- think I made need to play more with the stacking and rearrange some tid bits.

Looking for inspiration on how to use all my fun finds has been so fun. Its just trying to arrange everything that has been a challenge. Luckily my mom is a staging professional and leads with great skill and advice, which is a huge bonus.

Love this living room with all my heart! The couch, frames, trunk- so motivating! I also lovvve having some sort of space by the door to drop your keys, shoes, mags/mail... The pics below I thought were fun & gave the right amount of color.

Living in a city brownstone limits my space esp for someone who is a sucker at a flea market and antique finds. Anyway - I'm thinking my first step will be to paint all the room walls white... use it as my canvas. I'm going to keep digging for more inspiration. I hope to have something unique of my own to report back with.

Kevin James (the actor) & Salma Hayek (actress) & film crews had set up shop all around Jeffries Point, East Boston. All for the new movie "Here comes the boom"- I snuck a few shots of them setting up as well as some videos with all the exciting sounds of "action! cut!" etc.

My mom & I have collected quite a few unique burlap bags and this has been one of our visions. She has already covered over a dozen chairs for different projects and staging jobs, they've all come out great by the way. We also have made pillows and other accessories too. I've come across these chairs on a flea market website and I'm absolutely floored at the going price! I'm lucky and relieved I have such a crafty woman by my side because I'm sure I'd be paying the big dollar for it if in any other situation. Ahhh pays to be nifty =)

We got to the market for the later half of the day, we enjoyed all the outdoor art, crafts, music. We met up with two artist-friends that had set up shop and chit chatted a bit about who has the best finds, most unique talent and well the rest just gossip. It was good to hear how well their art had been selling and made me give Greggers a big nudge of encouragement later (for he is my fav artist of all time) for doing more of what comes so natural to him. After the great outdoors environment we headed into my place of love, it sucks me in and I feel at home with all the vintage finds. Swear I was not meant to come in this world in the 80's. I snapped photos and took it all in, bought a few trinkets and felt my weekend become complete.. all while Gregg played atari, which almost made it home with us. I'm sure his fingers are crossed its still there next weekend. Well the wheels are def spinning on our holiday crafts and homemade items to come, the market really gave that extra touch of inspiration.

Jake & I are finally home from a long week of house sitting on the north shore. It sure had its pros and cons... I will not miss the traffic I endured every afternoon up RT1, total nightmare. The time away did have me missing the country life, a lot! We were on 2+acres all week where Jake could roam free, we had endless supply of veggies from a large garden, no cell phone reception (which made me shaky the first two days) that I slowly embraced, hammock, fresh air & the calming sound of crickets at night

My list is slowly getting smaller. The big move happened this past weekend, I've officially slept at my new city apartment. I'm in love. Jake & Henry enjoyed their time in Brophy park yesterday... maybe Jake more so than Henry. Henry sat on a park bench like a little man with his buddy Gregg. Jake played with his 2new girlfriends & rolled around in the grass for hours.

Leaving Newbury comes with great emotion. Its bittersweet. I've lived on my own for the first time there & learned so much about myself. Now, all that stands in my old 1770's farm house are my two blue ladies wing chairs & a shabby old tall dresser. Time to go back and tie up some loose ends then its on to the next chapter.

Sunday Newburyport had a festive parade down our main historic street. We sat out on our farmers porch and watched on all the festivities as they went by. It was like our own farewell tribute... I felt torn the whole time I watched on. Do I really want to give this up, my heart felt heavy. Getting back to the city last night things lightened up and I started to feel some excitement, those "what if's" past by.

So new job in the city, I can't wait to start! I've been checking out some apartments in the South & North end... love them all but they are soo soo small. Anyone who knows me- knows that might not work out so hot. Seeing how I love Todd Farm Flea Market & bring a new antique/shabby chic something home every other weekend. Ok brings me to where I am now... do I, miss country girl who loves the farm, flea markets, local growers & my fav hidden hiking trails want to trade it in for the crazy "bohemian" feel for a bit?

FRENCH WORD BIT ~

The term bohemian, of French origin, was first used in the English language in the nineteenth century to describe the untraditional lifestyles of marginalised and impoverished artists, writers, musicians, and actors in major European cities. Bohemians were associated with unorthodox or antiestablishment political or social viewpoints, which were often expressed through free love, frugality, and/or voluntary poverty.

The term emerged in France in the early 19th century when artists and creators began to concentrate in the lower-rent, lower class gypsy neighbourhoods. The term bohémien was a common term for the Romani people of France, who had reached Western Europe via Bohemia.

Speaking of the French (my most fav) and I know its probaly not a French thing. But I had the best French toast covered in blueberries-strawberries- bananas & honey this am with Greggers... dreamy.

Ok so back to my reason of posting... I found this most interesting. I found something I like in East Boston... not sure on location but anyway I was google-ing reviews of the area and found this below which totally relates (<~keyword) to the whole ophthalmology thing... here it is info on the founder of that very section I was looking:

Jeffries Point-- Named after Dr. John Jeffries, one of the physicians who founded the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary in 1824, a free clinic whose purpose was to provide a place where Boston's most impoverished people could come to have their eye diseases treated. Earlier, in 1785, he took a balloon trip across the English Channel, and was arguably the first American to fly. In 1819, he died in Boston of “an inflammation in his bowels, originating in a hernia, occasioned by great exertions in his first aërial voyage." The Jeffries Point section just south of Maverick Square has been slowly gentrified over the past 30 years and is a comfortable neighborhood with a working-class feel. This area used to be part of Noddle's Island, along with Maverick Square and Central Square. You'll find some really beautiful architecture here, and some parts will remind you more of South Boston and sometimes even San Francisco. The main difference being that you can see the Boston waterfront from the back terraces, and sometimes the views are quite breathtaking. Piers Park, in particular, is worth a visit for the view alone.

LEHIGHTON, Pa. – Martha Stewart's chow puppy was one of 17 dogs killed in a propane explosion at an eastern Pennsylvania kennel.

The domestic maven wrote on her blog that she was "deeply saddened" by the death of her dog, Ghengis Khan, in Friday's blast at Pazzazz Pet Boarding, a kennel in the Pocono Mountains that breeds and trains show dogs.

Fifteen dogs were killed in the explosion, and two more died over the weekend.

The kennel was getting a propane delivery when the tank ignited, setting the pens on fire and injuring the driver, Timothy Kleinhagen, of Summit Hill.

Though badly burned, Kleinhagen managed to toss a cairn terrier over the kennel fence to safety. He was listed in critical condition Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

"That man is a hero," said the kennel's co-owner, Karen Tracy. "My heart goes out to his family."

Genghis Khan was a grandson of Stewart's previous chow, Paw Paw, which died last April at age 12.

Stewart announced on her blog in December that she was adopting Genghis Khan, then 7 weeks old, calling him "very cute and square." She said she expected him to be "conquering his new territory in my home soon, with great charm and prowess. I'm also confident that Sharkey and Francesca (Stewart's French bulldogs) will be enamored with him."

It wasn't immediately clear how much time Genghis Khan had spent at Stewart's Westchester County, N.Y., estate.

Stewart also sent condolences to Tracy, who breeds and trains dogs that compete in shows throughout the country, including Westminster. Many of the dead dogs belonged to Tracy and her mother, Jean Ahner, who live on the property in Franklin Township, Carbon County, about 75 miles north of Philadelphia.

"My heart goes out to Karen Tracy and I am hoping for a speedy recovery for those (both pets and humans) injured in this terrible event," Stewart wrote.

Officials have said a spark or static electricity may have started the blaze, which remains under investigation but is considered accidental.

AmeriGas Propane Inc., which owned the truck that Kleinhagen was driving, has declined to comment.

Here in the picture above is my Papa, Enrico Monaco. A man that held our family together & kept us strong. Most of my childhood memories are from times at Nana & Papas house on Turkey Hill. From the rides in the bucket of his John Deer tracker around his four acres with cousins piled on top of each other yelling to lift the bucket "higher, Higher, HIGHER!" & up we went then to the endless summers we spent splashing in the lima bean in-ground pool & cannon balls off the diving board. My memories of him are still so fresh even after 18years. I still see him waiting for our big family dinners always seated at the head of the dinning room table with fork & knife in hand. Papa was also always seated there & ready to greet us by pinching our chubby cheeks with his fat Italian fingers followed by a tap across the face then healed with a kiss. I dreaded waiting in line for my hello, I always pushed Michael by brother to the front to go first. Today marks an unfortunate date in the calenders, the day he had to leave us. Although he is kept so close to us all in thoughts & prayers. oh how I miss those times & his laugh that came from the bottom of his gut! One day in great memory, I will pass his name onto my future son. Papa, may you continue to rest in peace.

Fun things to come with these. I am so hooked on Etsy, all I can do is shop shop shop. But its good shopping because its ME being CREATIVE again... I thought I was losing my touch for awhile with all the crazy around me. So here they are, the metal stencils I purchased, next is shopping for polymer clay & image inserts to complete such a cool project. When they're done they should look like the last few images...but with my own nifty twist.

Final goal will be to find a deep set frame to place them in & told ya, the "c" & "s" thing... its all around me, except him the real thing.

I went antiquing yesterday, in search of an old desk. The first shop i went to had a beautiful burnt orange/yellow desk, my eyes went right for it when i walked in. I ran to it, while wanting to shout "its mine, i saw it first" get there take the clutter off the top and see a BRIGHT orange sold sticker. WHAT, no Its perfect i want it. I pick up a lamp shade cover the sticker and then tell the man...how much for the desk, I'd like it please. All to be put back in my place.

This one place yesterday had things packed on top of each other. And I mean packed, floor to ceiling...literally. Tight isle to walk thru and I wasn't feeling it. Except the house the antique store filled had a beautiful stair case. I was mesmerized. Three Floors that a beautiful old wooden spiral staircase led you. Oh and that's were I saw Susy Scribbles, when did she become an antique? She was stacked on old dressers and chairs, she sat in her little white chair with her head touching the dusty ceiling.

I did go back to the first store where the orange table still sat haunting me. I found an okay white desk that i brought home....still looking though, i need a shabbier chic piece to inspire me. I've also been finding a lot of "s" things where ever I go....I'm taking it as a sign, for the better.

It's true Robinson household. The Christmas gifts were mailed! Late buttttt it will fill the time between now & the next big holiday. MELISSA'S BDAY!! A snowy cold Sunday finds us snowbound. Theres only so much cleaning & laundry I can stand in one day, so with that I decide to sit and snuggle up on the couch with a movie. A movie that brought me to tears throughout its in entirety and not only did I know my upset feeling from just 12 hours before... I decide to watch it again. The drop of my stomach and welling of my tears reminded me right away. so I then stopped, asking why do I torture myself? The movie was wonderful the first time. But all the feelings, I could relate all too much to the story line.. I almost had to see again if I could still feel it a second time around, and yes there it was. So today I find myself missing someone terribly. I can't shake it. I even feel like the farm senses my emotions too & maybe they've felt it this whole time. I wonder if men miss us the way we miss them?

So this year so far....well its only day three, finds me in a much different place than last. I no longer sit upstairs in my cozy little office of my what was cute little antique cape to blog. I'm struggling on finding my new space here now & to create the same crafty-ness or -less that space gave me? I am now in a wide open room, high ceilings (unlike my cape with low slanted roof lines) and at that I am in the nook of my kitchen? No longer its own crafty room now just shared kit space. I will make due for I love my new 1770's home. None the less I live in a Green & Purple house, who would have ever thought.... bc I hate purple for those who don't know. This big ol colonial is green with all the doors painted a lovely purple, and I actually find it charming!

Side view from the driveway...the dogs have enjoyed all the snow we've been so lucky to get. This house has its own unique features like our drive way that has old graves along it. I now live on/next to the oldest-first cemetery in Newbury/Newburyport and the big old first church across the way...and the church bells go off every Sunday bright and early for about an hour...not pretty chimes just one boring dull ding over and over....all just lovely I swear it. The picture below is from my barn in the driveway. Is it bad that the dogs want so badly to pee on those stones? Its a daily struggle. WAIT now that I think of it, it cant be that bad... I know this guy who once peed in public on a famous rock down ....... harbor! He wouldn't have done anything like that if it were against rules and regulations, this sorta thing must be ok. jk. you know who you are though ;)

OK so to start from the top. I'm just a girl who for the past seven years has loved a boy but was feeling it was now time to beep or get off the pot. And many other reasons that came into play but remain a secret for he will always be a dear dear friend who I adore. Bottom line we sadly didn't make it to where our dreams had wanted to go. So now I'm just a girl who lives on her own in the big world with all new exciting journeys ahead. I Have moved up north away from everything that was familiar to me. I have left my work place behind which had its pros and cons but overall I truly enjoyed. I gave up my cute little home which was so fun and cozy. It was a bitter sweet goodbye to everything and everyone. I was surprised with a lovely last day at work full of cakes, flowers and goodies! I totally cried like a baby the day we packed everything in the moving truck and watched our house get smaller and smaller through the rear view mirror.

All this change has been very hard and has opened my eyes to all that I can do better. Especially with a whole new year and resolutions. I am continuing to grow and get settled in my new surroundings and will of course be back to fill you all in that I have left behind. I do want to leave the blog today with this last photo. Our first week here in the house with my new sofa and chair (which the animals are not allowed on) I caught this moment one night sneaking to check in on the farm. RDL this is the pic you've been waiting for haha. They all waited until I went to bed to try out the new chair!

The many faces. things are changing for me in all aspects of life. I'll be leaving my job and coworkers behind, my house, my friends and my comfort. All to be traded in for a new job, coworkers, home, friends and to find new comfort.

There are so many different types of people out there "the many faces". I'm aware it may be an even trade along my new journey. There is the easy going, caring boss. The gossip girl. The jealous girl. The two faced backstabber, that I've kept around for fun? The ones who say they "live through" me. My cheerleader. The one I call when things aren't great or when things are better than great. All these many faces I will leave behind and look back and understand that they were apart of this "stepping stone" path & I have made it across for a reason. Each one of them have taught me something. Whether it was about my self or others they all have helped me, in the good & the bad.

I will miss talking with all of you. To (not) name a few...

... about his life changes, beard and music.

... about home improvements, world changes, writing and how much we're alike.

...about our hair, giving each other goose bumps, style and what great things are out there.

...about what he had for free Monday night dinner, laughing at his many jokes and trivia.

...about her man, martinis, Boston's night life and of course our hair.

...about updated celeb info, travel stew, latest and greatest gadgets and life.

Now to become the girl whose face is unknown & Path is uncertain. Yet where options are endless... It's all very bittersweet.

PUMPKIN SEEDS

When carving a pumpkin, it’s always fun to roast some of the seeds. Roasted pumpkin seeds are a tasty and nutritious snack, and you don’t have to wait for Halloween to nibble, because the seeds of all varieties of pumpkins and winter squashes are edible. For the simplest roasting method, scoop the seeds from your pumpkin or squash and remove the clinging pulp. Spread the seeds on a parchment lined baking sheet, sprinkle on a bit of salt, and roast in a 350-degree oven for about 40 minutes, until golden brown. The seeds will be crunchy and have a pleasant nutty flavor.

Today's Sunday & I am really going to enjoy my day today. I'm working the next 6 days straight ugh! So to start, I used these photos to inspire my new project or one project that is coming to an end it is an old trunk rehab. I've scrapped all the old paint off, sanded the old rusty metal details and handle and took out the old paper lining . I've made some fabric up to line the inside with also some vintage wall paper to go in the inside bottom portion & all with some really nice fabric/ribbon trim. I need a new sewing machine in the worst way. My sister is the only one who can really get it going right...(wish you were here) So that has been my biggest delay. Anyway Gregg just ground some fresh Starbucks coffee beans (thank you mom for those!) well off to get some caffeine, chit chat time, eggs.toast.bacon time & then trunk time! Happy Sunday all!

PS mom do remember (going back 18years or so) the push pin tomato... we had it way back on orchard rd it was in the sewing kit in the first floor bath linen closet... third photo will remind you :) I'm pretty sure that sewing basket kit started my curiosity for all sewing crafts. (there were also endless textile markets you & Nana dragged me to, I still remember the smell there...funny how now I beg for the company at those places)...once a nag always a nag ;)

PPS gregg just crushed my childhood memory & told me everyone had a tomato push pin! well my coffee is getting cold...what a meanie-boom-ba-leanie

I was out side in the back yard sitting at the patio set putting my wreath together, Henry at my feet chewing on a stick & Oscar laying on his back in the sun. I filled a ceramic pumpkin with ribbon, wire and scissors to help shape this wreath that didn't really get the time i wanted to give it...better to come. Its so peaceful and I start to really enjoy my day as I said lots of p&q today! Well the wreath goes up on the door, I do a load of laundry, then back to the yard to start a new project....I go to my car to get something and notice my passenger door is left slightly open, my glove box is open and spilled all into the seat and floor...then panic...my coach clutch with my i.d., money, etc.....GONE! Someone broke into my car last night! this is the worst feeling ever way to ruin ones day, huh? So report has been filed and nothing else to do than go back and try to enjoy the day....

A nice Monday off. I'm home alone, Shep had to work. Yesterday we had a great day and after all that, we came home & did some yard work, those leaves are starting to fall hard! My flowers are still in full bloom...sadly wonder how long that will be. Halloween deco came out and is put up, window boxes are back and something to look at. Last detail added after our grocery run last night...PUMPKINS! We haven't got the big one for the door step yet but I will post a photo of the house with the window boxes full of greens & pumpkins later. I'm off now to make a wreath, i collected different things along our hike yesterday...which the dogs are still tired from -- couldnt ask for any more p&q around here today!

That was very touching, sad and sweet all in one...you will always be my queen bee and I mean that in a positive way....although sometimes i would like to shake you, smile. I think deep down you know all you need to do to get where you want to get but are afraid to take that leap. sometimes things need to be rough really rough to get where you need to be. Today's theme. Strangely this is how my day was themed. I felt very stubborn today, I know I am a stubborn person...its just my personality. But today ugh I was stubborn! I was told I'm a princess this morning and always get my way, this afternoon I was told to get off my throne and then this evening my mom gave me a new charm for my Pandora that was a queen bee (silver bee with a gold crown.) Yet all these statements took place in three different locations with three different people. I felt like a joke was being played on me or some how all these people had talked to each other and are conspiring against me? Strange day. Today I feel stuck. Today I feel ready for things to change and start. Today I want the fairytale ending. I'm 25. Ring, white dress, country home, audi wagon, kids, soccer mom, crafts, bedtime stories, feetsie pj's. I had a break down on my turning 25. Where am I. Who am I. What is in store for me. & today I relived that same moment I had on may 19th. I'm ready for something new, somewhere new and some... new. All new but with the shabby chicness of the old. I've started a few things that have been started before and then put on the back burner. This time around I think they will be followed through on. Well only time will tell. I hate time. its always going by too fast, that's how this all started when did I get here and 25!?! Are you a queen bee? I wish I were the queen everyone thinks I am. Cross your fingers with luck for me, I need the new that I'm looking for.
